The Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey (México) presents an exhibition dedicated to the Mexican painter Rafael Coronel. With the name Retrofutura-Rafael Coronel, the show reunites 109 works incluiding paintings, sculptures and drawings that resume the artist's work –from the beginning of his career in the early fifties to the 18 pieces specially produced for this exhibition-.
Retrofutura-Rafael Coronel, which will be running through January 13, analyzed the main elements of Coronel’s pictorial style: his interest in portraiture, the frontal representation of characters, the theatrical gestures, the space’s ambiguity and the expressiveness of the face. This exhibition pays tribute to the painter's career in the framework of the anniversary of his birth.
