Descripción: From the Series "Flowers, Women and Birds" Anahi was a Guarani Indian Queen who lived by the shores of the Parana River, in Argentina. Because she wasn’t submisive, she was tied to a dry tree and set on fire by the Spanish conquerors. When the flames surrounded her, she, and the tree become one, crowned of red flowers. The tree is known today as the bucare, or ceibo, and the flower is the National Flower of the Argentine Republic. This is a legend for most people, but a true story for Guaranies.
