Jean- L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Jean- L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me<\/strong> (Alto Saona, 1824- Par\u00eds, 1904) respondi\u00f3 con buena nota a todas las exigencias de la vieja escuela. En su caso, trabaj\u00f3 en el taller de Paul Delaroche, fue copista del Museo del Louvre y, por supuesto, se mantuvo<strong> alejado de cualquier movimiento revolucionario<\/strong> planteado en su \u00e9poca. Jean- L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sus obras gustaban, y mucho. El secreto de su \u00e9xito estaba en dar a su p\u00fablico lo que quer\u00eda y, por ello, no dud\u00f3 en <strong>transformar la historia en espect\u00e1culo.<\/strong> Compuso aut\u00e9nticas narraciones visuales a partir de im\u00e1genes que hac\u00edan sentir a quienes las observaban testigos presenciales de lo que ve\u00edan. Para lograrlo, se val\u00eda de representaciones exactas y precisas conseguidas gracias al constante recurso de la <strong>fotograf\u00eda.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>G\u00e9r\u00f4me pintaba la historia a trav\u00e9s del prisma de la intimidad y de lo cotidiano, dejando que la <strong>an\u00e9cdota<\/strong> fuese la protagonista del relato. Lo mismo ocurr\u00eda con sus cuadros de tem\u00e1tica oriental. Jean- L\u00e9on G\u00e9r\u00f4me<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Fabricaba sus obras llevando a cabo una<strong> minuciosa labor de documentaci\u00f3n,<\/strong> pero, adem\u00e1s, se ayudaba de la<strong> fantas\u00eda<\/strong> que envolv\u00eda a aquellos lugares tan lejanos y que resultaban tan ex\u00f3ticos a sus paisanos occidentales. Permiti\u00e9ndose, si era necesario, alguna licencia que evitara privarles de la imagen que de ellos esperaban. As\u00ed, el<strong> Oriente so\u00f1ado por V\u00edctor Hugo<\/strong> quedaba inmortalizado en sus lienzos.<\/p>\n<p>De sus expediciones a Oriente mostraba guerreros y bailarinas, as\u00ed como interiores de mercados, mezquitas,&#8230; atendiendo escrupulosamente a los <strong>detalles<\/strong> de la arquitectura y de la vestimenta para alcanzar una mayor veracidad. De la historia prefer\u00eda la Antig\u00fcedad, el siglo XVII franc\u00e9s y los a\u00f1os de Napole\u00f3n. La copia de sus creaciones a trav\u00e9s del grabado y la fotograf\u00eda ven\u00eda muy bien a su estilo y pronto las im\u00e1genes de sus cuadros se volvieron muy populares, convirti\u00e9ndose en<strong> iconos de la cultura visual.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>G\u00e9r\u00f4me tambi\u00e9n se dedic\u00f3 a la <strong>escultura.<\/strong> Su consagraci\u00f3n a este campo llegar\u00eda m\u00e1s tarde, en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas de su vida.
