A distant horizon with an ebbing tide exposes the long foreshore and all the rock and rock pools to the beach.
A very large expressionist seascape painted in oils on a deep sided canvas. The sides are painted black and and it is ready to hang without the need of a frame, but it would need a very large wall for the piece to 'breathe'!
The palette is a mixture of blues, yellow ochres and sienna's with dark umbers. There is smooth brushwork to the skies and some shores combined with deep texturing to the remainder giving a 3D effect for depth and interest.
Awareness of the sea in all the seasons is my inspiration, experimenting with the weather, light and windswept places.
