La vestimenta, en muchos casos, era confeccionada por las mismas mujeres de los obreros salitreros. Muchas de ellas, tejían a "palollos" o al "crochet", fabricando "chombas", calcetas, guantes, bufandas, ruanas y "ponchos", para enfrentar las gélidas mañanas
