Artwork details

This is the Red Tezcatlipoca in the theogony of creation. Its region or domain is the East, where the Sun rises. It is the masculine part of the universe, the region of youth and dawn, of tender corn. It represents the Renewal, the detachment of what is no longer useful, the regeneration of the spiritual nature in people, as well as the dry soil in fertile soil.
The painting is a reproduction of Xipe Totec’s mask sculpture from the British Museum.
