Artwork details
The oil painting shows two tigers fighting. The scene takes place in a yellowish-golden grass landscape. The characteristic stripes and the orange-coloured fur of the tigers have been reproduced in detail. The background is kept in warm yellow and brown tones, which accentuates the colours of the tigers and creates a sun-drenched atmosphere. The composition conveys movement and tension between the two animals. It could be a playful fight or a serious confrontation. Overall, the painting impressively captures the power and majesty of the tigers as well as the wildness of their natural environment. This technique of oil painting on velvet is very rare, as it is elaborate and difficult.
