This atmospheric colored pencil drawing portrays a majestic giraffe, elegantly silhouetted against a soft blue sky. Depicted in profile, the animal assumes a dignified, upright posture as it appears to gaze out over an African savannah landscape. The artist has worked with careful gradations of color to capture the giraffe's characteristic fur pattern—a harmonious network of warm-brown, irregular spots on a cream-colored ground. The depiction of the animal's long silhouette is particularly successful, emphasizing its natural grace and majesty. Across the lower part of the image, delicately suggested vegetation of acacia trees and low bushes in various shades of green and yellow, typical of the African savannah, extends. Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
