This delicate coloured pencil drawing captures a touching moment in the life of a penguin family. The picture shows two adult emperor penguins lovingly caring for their chick. The characteristic features of the emperor penguins have been worked out with great care. The fluffy chick in the centre is much smaller and lighter in colour, which emphasises its youth and vulnerability. It stretches its head upwards, while one of the parents leans down as if feeding or caressing the chick.
