Ave endémica de Chile, específicamente de la isla Robinson Crusoe, ubicada en el archipiélago de Juan Fernández.
Actualmente catalogada en Peligro Crítico de Extinción, debido a la desforestación y la depredación por fauna introducida (como ratas, gatos y coatíes).
En la isla, el macho (un picaflor rojo) es relativamente fácil de ver, pero la hembra habita en zonas no pobladas, por lo que la reproducción entre ambos es también difícil.
Este es un trabajo hecho en lápiz de color Faber Castell polychromo, sobre papel Canson modelo Bristol.
