This striking sculpture by Georgian contemporary artist Gela Mikava reimagines the language of violence through irony and color. Constructed from discarded toy parts and industrial materials, the piece destabilizes the weapon’s original function by coating it in vivid pink and layering it with organic, green silicone textures.
Light and shadow play a crucial role: under direct light the object resembles a playful toy, while in silhouette it returns to the unmistakable presence of a gun. This shifting perception is at the core of Mikava’s practice — a commentary on how violence is normalized, aestheticized, and consumed in mass culture.
