Con el cuadro “Bajo la Superficie”, quise expresar la serena complejidad que subyace a lo que vemos a primera vista. La superficie blanca no pretende borrar los colores que se encuentran debajo, sino suavizarlos, velarlos, como hacemos con nuestras propias experiencias, recuerdos y emociones.
Las múltiples capas que se encuentran debajo representan todo lo que se acumula con el tiempo: momentos, sentimientos, fracturas y rastros de alegría o dolor. Algunas de estas capas se abren paso con mayor claridad, otras permanecen apenas visibles, pero todas están presentes. Nada se pierde realmente, ni siquiera cuando está oculto.
El blanco actúa como una especie de calma, una pausa o incluso una capa protectora. Sugiere quietud y contención, pero también permite vislumbrar lo que yace debajo, insinuando profundidad y tensión. Quería que la pintura se sintiera sutil al principio, casi serena, pero que revelara lentamente su riqueza a medida que la contemplas.
En definitiva, esta obra trata sobre paisajes interiores: aquello que llevamos dentro pero que no siempre mostramos. Es una invitación a mirar más allá de la superficie y reconocer que la complejidad, la fragilidad y la belleza a menudo viven justo debajo de lo que parece simple o sereno.
With the painting “Beneath the Surface”, I wanted to express the quiet complexity that exists underneath what we first see. The white surface is not meant to erase the colors below it, but to soften them, to veil them—much like we do with our own experiences, memories, and emotions.
The many layers underneath represent everything that accumulates over time: moments, feelings, fractures, and traces of joy or pain. Some of these layers push through more clearly, others remain barely visible, but all of them are present. Nothing is truly lost, even when it’s covered.
The white acts as a kind of calm, a pause, or even a protective skin. It suggests stillness and restraint, yet it also allows glimpses of what lies beneath, hinting at depth and tension. I wanted the painting to feel subtle at first, almost quiet, but to slowly reveal its richness the longer you stay with it.
Ultimately, this work is about inner landscapes—the things we carry inside but don’t always show. It’s an invitation to look beyond the surface and to recognize that complexity, fragility, and beauty often live just underneath what appears simple or serene.
This painting has multi layers of acrylic paint on canvas making this artwork textural. The canvas is stretched over professionally made wooden stretcher bars.
The sides are painted so the art work is ready to hang.
