I navigate the sea of reflections that bathe Nature and the objects that surround us at the same time ignite the skin of the human figure. We are a mirror that reflects how we are perceived, just as what we are and do is reflected in others. I prefer working from nature, always focusing on what is close and what is lived. Watercolor, due to its great transparency and purity of color, is the prism that filters the way I construct everything else. Driven by Velázquez and Bacon, I also aspire to capture the human soul and carnality through oil portraiture. I have incorporated the language of sculpture, seeking the emotion of the tangible and the balance between emptiness, volume, and space...

Amapola Herrera Rodríguez was born in Badajoz in 1969 and has worked as a specialist in Family and Community Medicine since obtaining her degree in 1998. She began her career in drawing and painting later in life with the help of artist and Fine Arts professor Teresa Pomares, who introduced her to the world of watercolor, a technique that became the prism that filters and determines the way she developed and constructed her creative world.

She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valéncia
