Collection: TACHOGRAFÍAS (1993 – 2003)

Tachografías (1993–2003) is one of the most ambitious, conceptual, and avant-garde series in Tacho’s career. Comprising a rigorous body of 160 unique works, this collection represents a decade-long artistic exploration in which the creator fuses the legacy of European Tachisme with large-format analog photography and subsequent digital deconstruction.

The creative process for each piece borders on material alchemy. Within his laboratory, Tacho uses a small substrate—a piece of glass or rigid plastic measuring just 35 mm or 6 x 6 cm—as a matrix. On this minuscule surface, the artist orchestrates a controlled chaos by applying and transforming vibrant textures: dyes, lacquers, metal filings, sawdust, adhesives, and sand. Once the physical reaction between these materials has stabilized, the matrix is captured via high-fidelity scanning and scaled up onto canvases measuring 40 x 60 cm and 60 x 60 cm, at a native resolution of 300 dpi.

The resulting work—both commercially and artistically—is a fascinating interplay of contrasts and scales. At first glance, the pieces immerse the viewer in abstract atmospheres defined by light, ethereal tones. However, upon closer inspection, the macro-resolution unveils a secret universe: organic textures take on figurative forms, revealing hidden silhouettes—such as "the hummingbird," "the kiss," or "the chimera"—where contrasts in tone and texture create a kaleidoscopic illusion in dark hues, only to fragment, upon further zooming, into a precise 1x1 cm pixelated grid.

Acquiring a piece from the Tachografías series means owning a comprehensive work of art that builds a historical bridge between the raw materiality of the 20th century and the geometric abstraction of the digital age. It is an essential investment for collectors of contemporary photography and alternative techniques.
