En la obra se aprecia un paisaje lacustre en tonos grises y azulados, con un cielo nublado y una superficie de agua calmada que refleja la luz tenue. En el lago se distinguen tres embarcaciones tradicionales, cada una ocupada por pescadores. Dos de ellos aparecen de pie sobre sus frágiles barcas, utilizando redes típicas de la región para la pesca, mientras que otro parece maniobrar su embarcación. Al fondo, una línea de vegetación marca el horizonte, separando el agua del cielo.
El cuadro transmite serenidad y un ritmo pausado, evocando la vida cotidiana y ancestral de los pescadores del lago Inle, en Myanmar (antigua Birmania).
