Celebración religiosa que data de 1.754, a raíz de unos terremotos que se repetían con frecuencia y para su salvaguardia, pidieron la advocación del Cristo. Como consecuencia que de este trance salieron indemnes personas y haciendas, por aclamación popular se le nombró protector de la villa, dotándolo de un camarín y pedestal desde 1.797.
