Artwork details
"The Ritual" is an evocative and enigmatic oil painting on canvas that immerses the viewer in an atmosphere charged with psychological tension, eroticism, and mystery.
The artwork features two meticulously detailed female figures that contrast vibrantly against a dense background of green foliage and a saturated checkered floor. With an aesthetic that evokes pop art and contemporary realism, the scene captures a private act: the women stripping of their underwear, holding it as a farewell tribute.
The implicit focal point shifts toward the pit at the edge of the canvas. What lies within? A lover, a buried secret, someone alive or dead? The canvas offers no answers, inviting the viewer to complete the narrative. This duality between sensuality and the dark undertone explores detachment and memory.
I chose oil on canvas because its slow drying process allows me to work on glazes, skin textures, and the folds of fabric with meticulous precision.
