"El patio" (The Courtyard) explores geometry, space, and architectural memory. Far from offering a mimetic representation, the work functions as a poetic diagram in which the architectural blueprint is subverted and reinterpreted through a graphic language.
The composition balances dark, dense masses with an orthogonal grid of red lines. This lattice evokes both the layout of an architectural plan and the containment of a defined space—the courtyard itself—juxtaposing formal rigidity against the diffuse atmosphere of the background.
The work engages with the concepts of structure and void, transforming construction elements into minimalist signs. The tension between precise lines and expressive marks lends the piece an introspective quality, in which an external space is internalized as a silent, mental territory.
