REAL STREET IN SANTA CRUZ DE LA PALMA
Artwork details
I began with a photograph I took of Calle O’Daly—also known as Calle Real—in Santa Cruz de La Palma. I sought permission from the first two passersby I included, just in case they happened to be acquaintances; as it turned out, when the work was displayed at the "MI COLOR DE LA PALMA" exhibition—held at the Cabildo Palmero’s gallery on that very same street—many people recognized them, even though they occupy no more than 15 cm within the painting. My greatest challenge was correcting the photographic distortion that made the buildings appear tilted along a street that is not, in fact, straight.
