Playa de la Concha, San Sebastián, España
Artwork details
Strolling along the La Concha beach promenade with Mount Igueldo in the background and Santa Clara Island in the foreground. It has a small beach that appears at low tide, a natural seawater pool, walking trails, and a seasonal bar. https://www.barcelo.com/guia-turismo/es/espana/san-sebastian/que-ver/isla-de-santa-clara/
The weather is worsening. A raincoat is essential to make the walk enjoyable and end behind the windows of a café with a comforting coffee. La Bella Easo, as this beautiful city is also known, is showing its true colors in this way, announcing a sudden downpour.
(*) Galerna: A galerna is a sudden and violent storm characterized by an abrupt change in wind direction to the west or northwest, which batters the northern coast of Spain (mainly Cantabria, eastern Asturias, and the Basque Country) in the Cantabrian Sea and the Bay of Biscay.
Author's note: This oil painting originated from a photograph I had kept in a drawer for years. I cut it out because I liked it so much, simply intending to look at it from time to time. It came from a magazine or newspaper, but I don't remember the name. Years later, while I was a student at the School of Fine Arts, I had the idea of transferring it to canvas.
