The Suture

“The First Work in Concretion” · 2026

This time I didn't paint the stone — I built it. I raised the mineral paste with marble dust straight onto the surface, in real relief, until the shoulder gained the true weight of matter, not just its appearance. I caught the figure in profile, gaze lowered toward her own shoulder, the hand rising from behind to close over the collarbone — a gesture of self-soothing. Right beside the fingers, the gold suture begins: not on the chest, but on the back, running down from the base of the neck over the shoulder and shoulder blade, further toward the arm, like a second spine holding the body together from the outside. It isn't a vein crossing the flesh, but a stitch with real thickness, binding several pieces tightly together. Sutura opens a new series — Concretion — in which I no longer follow the body turning into stone, but the stone that has gathered, layer by layer, exactly around a wound, until it became, itself, a form of healing.
