Alto Maestrazgo Landscape

This work masterfully captures the vibrant, luminous atmosphere of a riverside spot in the Alto Maestrazgo region. The composition, with its strong vertical emphasis, guides the eye from the serene, rock-strewn stream in the foreground to the imposing rocky cliffs silhouetted against a clear sky in the background. The rendering of the vegetation stands out for its rich color palette: the yellow and golden hues of the seasonal foliage contrast with the deep greens of the scrub and deciduous trees, creating an interplay of volumes and textures that feels remarkably tactile. Filtered light illuminates the water’s course and highlights the warmth of the rocky crags, achieving a sense of atmospheric depth that envelops the viewer in the silence and peace of the natural setting. The artist's confident brushwork and intimate knowledge of the rural landscape are evident in the solidity of the rocks and the natural way the river winds through the foliage, reaffirming a commitment to authentic realism and the observation of the living landscape.
