Artwork details
It is a portrait of my Aunt Miriam. An aunt who gave me many pleasant moments, and whose kindness and integrity helped raise me. Although she was serious, with me she was cheerful; she encouraged me to draw and always gave me good advice, even though I had to run many errands for her—but I felt very good helping her. It is wonderful to help the elderly who helped you grow and become a good person.
In her old age she went blind, and at times she became a little sad about losing her sight, but we cheered her up and she gave us a smile. I was saddened that I couldn’t kiss her as before because of COVID-19, but she never lacked affection, even from a distance. When COVID-19 was receding and we were beginning to return to normal life, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, inexplicably, the Lord took her to heaven—perhaps foreseeing that it would not be fair for her to go through the great hardships we are currently experiencing in our destroyed country.
Although I had made some drawings for her when I was a student, I decided to make her a new drawing. I will never forget her. May God have her in glory 🙏
