Oranges on the orange tree: Nature and Realism

Created in 2014 using the technique of oil on paper mounted on wood, this work demonstrates an extraordinary command of naturalistic realism, transforming the simplicity of an orange tree branch into a piece of great drama and lyricism.

The vertical composition is structured around a striking use of chiaroscuro: a background steeped in deep shadow allows the warmth and freshness of the fruit to emerge powerfully. The artist captures with impeccable precision the direct sunlight striking the oranges, where golden-yellow and vibrant orange tones highlight the textured skin and the spherical volume of the fruit.
