“What Rises from the Deep” · 2026

This time I wasn't interested in sinking, but in what comes after it. The head is tilted back, in light falling from one side, and from chest to sole a single vein of gold runs down — thin, continuous, like a crack showing the way out for everything that lay buried inside. The body is grey, almost mineral, but the gold line runs through it whole, in a single unbroken movement. I built the background in deep layers of blue and dark green, like water or stone from which the figure breaks free. Emergence is about the moment when the wound becomes a way out — the only place you can leave from is exactly where you were broken.
