In this piece, I join a growing contemporary trend of artists revisiting the figure of the dancer —a motif immortalized by Edgar Degas and now reinterpreted through diverse modern lenses. Rather than capturing a realistic pose or setting, I aim to dissolve the dancer into pure emotion, gesture, and color.
The tutu made of gauze remains —bold, bright, and central— as a symbol of discipline and grace, but the body becomes elusive, merging with an atmospheric background of abstract brushstrokes. The traditional form is deconstructed, not erased, evoking the fleeting nature of movement and memory.
By abstracting the form, I invite the viewer to feel rather than see, to recognize essence over appearance.
My work is an exploration of color, texture, and movement—an intuitive dialogue between emotion and abstraction. Inspired by the fluidity of nature and the spontaneity of expression, I build layers of acrylic, letting each brushstroke guide the next. Light and depth play a crucial role in my process, creating a sense of energy and atmosphere that invites the viewer into the painting’s world.
