The painter Michel Michaux offers an interpretation of nature, starting from the observation of reality, that brings together abstract elements and dreamlike atmospheres. That way, he turns into tangible expressions the fantasy he gathers from his inner world, a fantasy that answers to his own emotions and concerns.
The imagery of his fictions centres on nature and on everyday life. He captures the innocence, and at the same time the fierceness, stirred by creatures of wild, natural life. With that same energy, he translates into bursts of colour the possibilities he projects onto his dream racing cars and cruise ships. His repertoire also includes fantastical characters, the leads of unreal stories and erotic tales.
Sometimes he does it aiming for an almost photographic representation. Other times, something more expressive. What Michel Michaux arrives at are cheerful, colourful, temperamental designs that catch imagined moments and invite the viewer to experience what can only be dreamed. To do so, he adapts the technique he uses, mainly watercolour, oil, acrylic or gouache, according to what he wants from each composition. His brushwork combines dynamism and precision, always in search of intensity of colour and of drawing.
