Artwork details
Part of my Language of Light series, Crystal Horse explores the paradox of making the transparent visible. The horse, a symbol of strength, movement and elegance, is reimagined as a seemingly fragile crystal form, emerging through reflections, refractions and contrasts between luminosity and shadow.
Executed in graphite and charcoal, the drawing explores how light can define form without colour. Rather than simply illuminating the subject, light becomes the subject itself, revealing contours, internal structures and a sense of volume within the transparent figure.
The work invites viewers to look beyond the represented object and consider the act of seeing itself—an encounter between light, matter and perception. This idea lies at the heart of Language of Light: exploring how something intangible can make the visible world appear.
