Artwork details
A broad black field conceals the head above pale shoulders, leaving a small colored necklace visible along the neckline. The jewelry becomes a delicate point of focus within a largely obscured portrait. This original painting by Gela Mikava explores how an ornament can retain a trace of identity when facial likeness is withheld.
