Traces of San Fermin
Artwork details
Oil and modelling paste on canvas. Large-scale work.
This work draws on my memories of years spent celebrating the San Fermín festivities. Red and white, inseparable from the festival’s identity, become a language of colour, texture and memory.
Against an intense red background, a white expanse of modelling paste preserves the raised marks of the artist’s gesture. Numerous incisions reveal the colour beneath, creating a rhythm of small traces: echoes of people, encounters and moments that endure over time.
The repetition and irregularity of these marks suggest the pulse of the crowd, while the contrast between the two colours captures the energy of the festivities. Personal memory becomes an abstract, tactile composition in which each trace belongs to a shared experience.
