Artwork details
This painting presents a frontal image of the Sacred Heart sculpture worshipped at the church of Santa Maria la Blanca in Seville. A Christ figure with a haloed face, one hand raised in blessing and the other touching the chest, where a small red heart is visible. Gold, cream, burgundy, and silver tones define the robe, while the figure stands on a blue-gray cloud base within a dark framed niche with candle-like forms at the sides. The brushwork is detailed and glossy, emphasizing folds, ornament, and the carved surface.
