Pedro P. Gimeno: because the destiny of dreams is to be a border

A display of tone taking over the space, making itself felt in the shapes. A careful, elegant composition. A study of the situation, brushstrokes that know how to behave, diluted and watery within their abstract situation but cheerful after all, going along with the luck and the place they've been given, gladly accepting each and every one of our interpretations. The artworks of Biar-born Pedro P. Gimeno stand out for the pleasant feel of their texture, for a narrative rhythm in harmony and an amiable arrangement, above all warm and well mannered, in the way his story bears on our way of looking.

Pedro P. Gimeno's training has come from direct contact with numerous painters and from his constant concern, within the university and academic circles of the city of Alicante too, with the tenacious exploration of artistic expression. His interest in and study of collage is very present in his artworks. Without going any further, the reliefs and textures of his compositions carry within them a good part of his taste and skill in this technique.

Gimeno's compositions invite us, in a way, to step back and analyse the different elements as a whole. The daydreams with which we fill spaces and waits are the real boundaries of the distance between our days. Perhaps Pedro P. Gimeno's artworks speak of that need for transition, made easier and softer by dreams. In the words of A. Brú: "Night is not the border between two days, the border between two days is the dream, and the day is never the border between two dreams, because the destiny of dreams is to be a border".

Within a multidisciplinary framework, Gimeno shows an interest in different forms of artistic expression, painting, but also literature or photography, in which he has skilfully made his first forays. As for his work as a painter, he gives proof of his versatility by tackling pieces from the most varied techniques. Over the course of his artistic life he has handled different media such as oil, acrylic, mixed media, pastel, collage, watercolour and even digital.

Pedro P. Gimeno has taken part in numerous group exhibitions since 1982, across much of Spain, among many others the one held by the "Agrupación de Acuarelistas Valencianos", Valencia in 2013, or "Paisajes del mundo", held at the CC Barceloneta and Amigos de la Unesco in 2014 in Barcelona. He has also had solo shows such as “Como los recuerdos” in 2011, at the Hotel Villa de Biar in the Alicante town, or the one held this year, 2015, at the Librería Rossina in Alcalá de Henares.
