Andromeda and the Milky Way, nocturnal encounter

In Greek mythology, Andromeda is the figure exposed to forces beyond her control. Here, her name expands beyond the myth and acquires a cosmic dimension: the slow approach of Andromeda toward the Milky Way, while all other galaxies recede into the darkness.

The painting captures a suspended encounter, two bodies intertwined in a dynamic gesture that suggests both attraction and collision. Their movement resembles an orbital dance—intimate and inevitable—as if desire itself obeyed a gravitational law.

Within The Error of Prometheus, the work reflects on the limits of human knowledge. As distant galaxies disappear from our sight, a future being might believe that what remains—Lactomedra—is the entire universe. The Promethean impulse seeks to illuminate reality, yet reveals its paradox: all knowledge is also a form of blindness.
