Mountain Meadow in Bloom

Mountain Meadow in Bloom is an original oil painting on canvas by Ukrainian artist Aleksandr Dubrovskyy, measuring 50 cm wide by 60 cm high. Violet bell-shaped wildflowers and white daisies fill the foreground, opening onto green mountain slopes and distant blue ridges.

In this landscape, I bring the viewer close to the meadow. Slender stems, overlapping petals, and small patches of yellow-green grass occupy most of the canvas. The mountains rise above the flowers in broad, flowing shapes, creating a contrast between the intricate foreground and the open landscape beyond.

The color moves from bright greens, purples, and white accents toward cooler blues in the distance. Warm yellow and pale violet clouds carry the colors of the meadow into the sky, connecting the different parts of the composition.

Loose, visible brushstrokes give the flowers a sense of movement while allowing individual forms to remain distinct. The vertical format emphasizes their upward growth and leads the eye from the daisies near the lower edge to the mountain horizon.

For me, the painting brings together two ways of experiencing nature: noticing the small flowers within reach and looking outward toward the spaciousness of the mountains.
