Spring Bliss

Spring Bliss is an original oil painting on canvas by Aleksandr Dubrovskyy, measuring 50 cm wide by 60 cm high. A generous bouquet of purple and white lilacs stands before a mountain landscape, bringing floral still life and landscape painting into one composition.

White blossoms gather near the center, surrounded by deeper violet, mauve, and lavender clusters. Bright green leaves interrupt the rounded masses of flowers, while glimpses of a blue-green vase appear beneath the stems. Additional lilac branches spread across the foreground, extending the arrangement toward the lower edge of the canvas.

I use visible, layered brushstrokes to give the blossoms texture and distinguish the small petals through touches of light and shadow. Behind the bouquet, broader passages of blue, green, and violet describe the mountain slopes. The contrast in brushwork brings the flowers forward and allows the landscape to recede.

The pale sky offers a quiet opening above the dense bouquet. Its soft pinks and cool blues echo colors found among the lilacs, linking the flowers with the distant setting.

In this painting, I explore how the intimate presence of a bouquet can share the same space with the breadth of a mountain view. The impressionistic handling of color connects these two subjects through the light and freshness of spring.
