LUX REMOTA

A small white light stays at a distance, suspended in a field of nocturnal blue. In front of it, a compact, eroded red construction interrupts the horizon, and below, bands of pale pink, green, grey and orange stretch outward. The scene keeps something of a landscape but never becomes a recognisable place. Two slender staircases introduce a direction that is never resolved: one rises from the lower edge and stops short; the other rests on a green band and fades towards the horizon. They mark distance rather than access. I work the edges, scrapes and incisions so that the calm of the painting is not stillness but a persistent activity of cuts, intervals and distances.
