Un solo paso en la ceniza (A Single Step in the Ash)

I worked red, grey and dark matter as the temperatures and densities of a territory. In the upper crimson band, a rugged dark silhouette rises like a monolith or a volcanic peak. The centre is a wide plane of ash and charcoal, crossed by a thin oblique incision that disobeys the horizontal. On the lower line, a tiny red block stands like a solitary sentinel, balanced by a small pale square in the corner. Placing these small presences against such large fields, I ask how much space we need to hold ourselves up, and whether a single point is enough to keep our bearings. The marks record real decisions and movements on the surface, keeping open the relation between limit, passage and refuge.
