Equatorial Tide
Artwork details
A broad sweep of turquoise water follows the curve of a sandy beach beneath green coastal cliffs. Equatorial Tide is an original oil painting on canvas by Ukrainian artist Aleksandr Dubrovskyy, measuring 60 cm wide by 50 cm high. It belongs to Emerald Air, a small collection connected to the artist’s painting period in Bali, Indonesia.
The elevated viewpoint opens the composition toward the ocean. Long, pale lines of surf travel across the water, their repeating curves giving the seascape its rhythm. Along the left side, dense vegetation and exposed rock faces frame a narrow beach that gradually disappears toward distant headlands.
I explore the sea through subtle transitions between turquoise, green, pale blue, and lavender. White brushstrokes suggest the breaking waves, while warmer peach and golden tones distinguish the shore. Tiny figures near the water’s edge introduce a sense of scale within the expansive coastal view.
The cliffs are painted with varied, broken touches that contrast with the longer strokes of the ocean. Above them, soft clouds extend across the sky, linking the deeper greens of the land with the cooler colors of the distance.
As a unique original within the small Emerald Air collection, Equatorial Tide represents a specific chapter of my artistic journey. Its character comes from the balance between an open expanse of water and the richly textured coastline, preserving my personal response to Bali’s light, color, and atmosphere.
