ROSA I
Artwork details
ROSA I is part of Rafa Torregrosa's painting series El misterio de los colores (The Mystery of Colours).
In this composition, pink takes on a particularly prominent role, becoming the starting point for an exploration of chromatic relationships.
The painting investigates the expressive possibilities that emerge when different colours meet, exploring their contrasts and the visual transformations created by their coexistence on the same surface.
Shapes, the movement of paint and variations in texture contribute to a composition in which colour becomes the primary means of expression.
ROSA I reflects one of the artist's central interests: discovering new possibilities of beauty through experimentation with colour.
One distinctive feature of his work is the use of large sheets of raw cotton canvas, without stretcher frames. The flexibility of the fabric allows folds, wrinkles and raised textures to develop. These irregularities can be deliberately incorporated into the composition through colour, turning the canvas itself into an active element of the painting. The surface is therefore no longer necessarily a uniform plane, but acquires a physical and textural dimension.
