VEILED GARDEN

VEILED GARDEN With VEILED GARDEN, my intention is to explore the boundary between what we reveal and what we conceal, conceiving the garden not as an idyllic space, but as a labyrinth of psychological introspection. Through the ethereal nature of acrylic paint and the interplay of successive veils, I seek to materialize that "world of the soul's dissolution" described by Vladimir Nabokov in his novel The Eye. I envision this piece as the emergence of gazes rising to the surface like traces of a returning past, where each eye represents a moment, a transformation, and a beginning. The closed eye symbolizes birth—the instant preceding consciousness—while the others evoke different states of perception and memory. They are camouflaged presences lurking in the mist, fragments of identity suspended between the visible and the invisible. Rather than offering answers, the work invites reflection on what remains hidden beneath successive layers of experience. The eyes appear and disappear like memories, suggesting that identity itself is a fluid, ever-changing construct, shaped by time and continuous transformation. Ultimately, VEILED GARDEN becomes a territory of inner observation: a visual reminder that, at times, the greatest freedom lies in dissolving—in becoming nothing more than a single eye gazing steadily at the world.
