WINDOW I
Artwork details
VENTANA I is part of Rafa Torregrosa's painting series El misterio de los colores (The Mystery of Colours).
The painting explores the expressive possibilities of colour through a composition in which chromatic relationships, forms and textures create a pictorial space of their own.
Contrasts and tonal variations establish different visual planes, while the movement of paint introduces dynamism across the surface.
The title, VENTANA I, suggests a sense of space while preserving the abstract character of the composition, leaving its interpretation open to the viewer.
The painting reflects the pursuit of beauty through the encounter between colours, one of the fundamental principles of the series.
One distinctive feature of his work is the use of large sheets of raw cotton canvas, without stretcher frames. The flexibility of the fabric allows folds, wrinkles and raised textures to develop. These irregularities can be deliberately incorporated into the composition through colour, turning the canvas itself into an active element of the painting. The surface is therefore no longer necessarily a uniform plane, but acquires a physical and textural dimension.
