Artwork details
Escape Garden delves into the dramatic tension of the GARDEN series, unfolding as a visual chronicle of survival and territorial escape. In this piece, the central white zone embodies the primordial core of the garden—the matrix of life. Surrounding it, the painting captures an all-encompassing organic exodus: gestural filaments and living roots unfurl in a desperate flight toward the margins, seeking to expand into a broader territory before succumbing to the biological asphyxiation of the space that confines them.
As is characteristic of the artist’s visual language, the work germinates from the somatic fragmentation of his own body, transmuting physical contours into geographical features. Through a rigorous application of thick, impasto textures and layered glazes in deep ochres and violets, the painting does not merely illustrate an external landscape; rather, it documents an impulse toward active resistance—a raw cartography where matter struggles for its freedom and flesh asserts itself as a sovereign territory.
