1. When and why did you start painting?
Drawing has always been in me. In fact I studied a technical career (my parent’s wish) because there was drawing in it. But I started painting when I was 18 in a local art school to get the technical basis. I left it because I was very independent and a self-taught person.
2. Which is your favourite time of the day to paint? How much time do you dedicate to painting?
When I was younger and used to live alone, I did not care to paint all the time and, while painting night turned day. Currently, I live in a flat and I have the studio in another one and I have set normal working hours.
3. Of all your paintings, which is your favourite one? Why?
A medio ejecutar uno seems to be the best. But it is true that you are happier with some artworks than with others. From the old ones I could highlight Caballo de cintas de color for its unique and very personal style, very pleasing to the eye. From the most recent artworks, I would highlight many from the series Vestidas de blanco in which I am involved now and seem interesting.
4. What are your sources of inspiration?
Now I am with figurative art, searching models in the foreground but without visage. I think that each observer of an artwork can imagine his own right person.
5. If you could reincarnate in an great master of art, who would you like to be?
Although I’m not a surrealist painter, Dalí is a good reference. He is a good painter.
6. Of all the artistic movements, which one influences you more?
I could say Realism with personal touches in order to express a personal idea pleasing to the eye in images. That’s what I do with the woman figure, an impersonal, young, slender figure, the ideal gone.
7. What is art for you? Which role does it play in your life?
Art is a way of doing things by a character endowed with a talent. You can find art in many aspects of life, not only in material things as I do with painting but also in ethereal ones, such as in music, visual art, dancing, architecture. In fact, with audiovisual media and Internet distances come closer nowadays and help us to observe and to be involved in artistic stories, not only in the conventional ones.
