From my studio: Bernardo Echavarria

1. When and why did you start painting?
My whole life has been linked to painting and drawing. I started painting professionally during the 80s.

2. Which is your favourite time of the day to paint? How much time do you dedicate to painting?
I paint from 8am to 6pm, either in my studio or in various private studios where I am dedicated to teaching.

3. Of all your paintings, which is your favourite one? Why?
All of my pictures are favourites because they have been made with love and dedication. They are like my children.

4. What are your sources of inspiration?
[My sources of inspiration] are nature, the wild atmospheres and Andean landscapes in Latin America.

5. If you could reincarnate in an great master of art, who would you like to be?
[I would reincarnate] in Claudio Bravo or Velázquez: they are my masters.

6. Of all the artistic movements, which one influences you more?
The Impressionist because they were who revolutionized and modernized art.

7. What is art for you? Which role does it play in your life?
For me art is everything, is like breathing, is my spiritual food and my daily sustenance
