The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Vigo (MARCO) and the FRAC Lorraine (Fonds régional d'art contemporain de Lorraine) of Metz, France, have given the Award for Young Exhibition Curators to the project "Notas de lectura" by art critic Anja Elizabeth Schneider.
The award, which celebrates its 4th edition and is aimed at the realization of an exhibition for the two museums, has analyzed a total of 117 proposals in terms of quality, viability and relevance to MARCO and FRAC Lorraine exhibition spaces. Besides the projects from Spain and France, there have been participants from Germany, Italy, UK, USA, Russia, Portugal, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Brazil, and one project for each of the following countries: China, Cuba, Holland, India, Taiwan, Singapore, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania and South Africa.
The project "Notas de Lectura", which reunites the works by 14 artists, takes as its starting point a work of Uruguayan writer Felisberto Hernández in order to explore the notion of reading and its various forms, experiences and structures. The exhibited works make use of the relationship and interaction between text and reader, as well as the condition, the act and the reading process through which meaning is constructed. The exhibition will take place between January and April 2012 in the FRAC Lorraine, and from June to September 2012 in the MARCO museum.
