Picasso eats Paris

Feasting on Paris. Picasso 1900-1907 is the exhibition presented by the Museo Picasso in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and offers a look at Picasso's evolution since his arrival in Paris in 1900 until 1907-1908 when he became the main representative of the Avant-garde movement in the French capital.

For Picasso, viewing the works of painters and sculptors like Van Gogh, Gauguin, Puvis de Chavannes, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rodin, Steinlen and others was a revelation and an inspiration. He responded to this influence by exploring new techniques of painting and graphics and putting effort in new topics for his paintings based on his own experiences about life and modern art.

The exhibition displays a total of 90 works, 50 by Picasso and 40 by artists such as Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rodin, Gauguin Steinlen and Van Gogh among others, with the idea of showing the visual stimulus that Picasso accounted during the first decade of the 20th century. The exhibition also displays  photographs and documentary material about Paris at that time.
