The Chairman of "la Caixa" and Fundació "la Caixa", Isidro Fainé, the president of the Museo del Prado’s Board of Trustees, Plácido Arango, and the director of the Museo del Prado, Miguel Zugaza, have signed a collaborative agreement by which Obra Social "la Caixa" becomes Patron of Museo del Prado
According to the agreement, Obra Social "la Caixa" will give the Museum 2.5 million euro over the next four years and will finance the organization and production of exhibitions coming from the funds of Museo del Prado, which will be showcased both in CaixaForum centres and in other rooms of the Spanish territory in the framework of exhibitions of Obra Social "la Caixa".
The starting point will be the exhibition Goya: Luces y Sombras, a major painter’s retrospective which will be shown in CaixaForum Barcelona from March 15 to June 24, 2012. The exhibition will comprise nearly one hundred works, with such outstanding examples as La maja vestida, El quitasol, Vuelo de brujas o Aún aprendo.
During its stay in Barcelona, the Goya exhibition will coexist with the first major retrospective in Spain about the French Romantic painter Eugène Delacroix, which comes from the Louvre Museum.
