The Kunsthalle Zurich, (Switzerland), in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery in London, (United Kingdom), hosts an exhibition dedicated to Walid Raad, a Lebanese young contemporary artist who currently lives and works in New York.
The exhibition, which can be visited until October 30, presents a series of works that reflect the artist's career. It has a large number of photographs and videos produced by Raad under the name of The Atlas Group (1989-2004).
His work, ranging from photography, video and sculpture to installations and performances, reflects the artist's relationship with the complex history of Lebanon, with particular emphasis on the wars in Lebanon between 1975 and 1991. The work is often concerned with the representation of traumatic events and the ways film, video, and photography function as documents of physical and psychological violence. One of his most relevant works has been the development of an Arab world’s Art History from the twentieth century.
Date: until October 30.
Place: Museum Bärengasse, Bärengasse 20–22, 8001 Zürich. Switzerland.
Opening hours: Wednesday and Friday from 12am to 6pm. Thursday from 12am to 8pm. Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
