The Valencian Institute of Modern Art, IVAM, (Spain) presents, until November 13, an exhibition by artist Javier Calvo (Valencia, 1941) that collects his work of recent years around the world of fashion.
The show reunites 44 paintings and 35 drawings in which haute couture dresses and iconic images from great photographers create a dialogue between geometry and suggestive fashion.
Sponsored by the Valencian Parliament, this exhibition offers the opportunity to discover the pictorial universe of Javier Calvo where female figures are geometrized and claim an architectural space in harmony with bulky suits.
Javier Calvo changes perspective by incorporating fabrics and objects like a collector who saves remnants of what he founds along the way. From a chromatic perspective, he evokes an abstract work of colours, with an abundance of pink, green, violet, yellow, orange and muted colors such as gray, blue and ocher.
Date: until November 13.
Place: The Valencian Institute of Modern Art Julio Gonzalez. IVAM. Guillem de Castro, 118, 46003 Valencia. Spain.
