From Figure to Figuration in the Novecento Italiano

The Loredan Palace in Venice (Italy) hosts, until November 6, an exhibition of works from Giuseppe Merlini’s collection, which is on public display for the first time.

The works travel from the "figure" to the "figuration" as emblems of a metamorphosis. In addition, they are the iconographic representation of the change in the art of the Novecento Italiano. The concept of space evolved to spatial concept and the issue of figuration was conditioned, in the visual art of Novecento, by a century of historical changes that motivated the development of figurative art.

Among the 300 works on display visitors can see productions by Modigliani, Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Savinio Giorgio Morandi, Filippo De Pisis, Mario Sironi, Massimo Campigli, Mario Tozzi, Gino Severini, Renato Paresce, Enrico Baj, Renato Guttuso, Ennio Morlotti, Lucio Fontana, Valerio Adami, Roberto Crippa, Piero Guccione, Omar Galliani, and Giuseppe Claudio Maraniello Parmiggiani.
